Mission Statement

High Tech Kids delivers fun, hands-on science, engineering and technology programs and events that inspire Minnesota kids in their formative years.

We inspire kids to BUILD confidence, CREATE opportunities and THRIVE in the 21st century.

Listen to what coaches, volunteers and kids have to say and the impact these fun STEM programs can have on students today.

What is High Tech Kids?

High Tech Kids is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit that supports youth STEM programs in Minnesota such as FIRST® LEGO® League Junior, FIRST® LEGO® League, and FIRST® Tech Challenge programs. Through these programs we train, teach and empower student teams, coaches and volunteers.

With the help of more than 2000 volunteers, we work hard to offer high energy, fun, team-based programs and competitions that celebrate science and technology. Kids learn how to work together, solve real-world problems and become leaders. To support High Tech Kids is to invest in our children, to share our passion, and to inspire these future innovators, leaders, collaborators, and problem solvers for the 21st century.

High Tech Kids now serves over 6,700 kids across Minnesota each year. Since our inception in 1999 we have helped over 62,000 students discover the fun in science and technology.

“Employment in occupations related to STEM – science, technology, engineering, and mathematics – is projected to grow to more than 9 million between 2012 and 2022.  That’s an increase of about 1 million jobs over 2012 employment levels.”
~U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics

Many alumni of our program have gone on to pursue STEM careers in science, technology, engineering and math. We also strive to help our kids learn to be engaged and educated citizens. In order to make responsible, informed decisions that affect us, our society and our environment, we must understand science and math.

Our programs, training, research workshops and competitions provide adult volunteers the opportunity to share their enthusiasm and expertise with young people in their community – encouraging kids to explore future STEM career possibilities.

High Tech Kids is committed to introducing the next generation of engineers, scientists, computer programmers, technicians, policy makers and project managers to the challenge and promise of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).
